Swarming is the Honeybees' way of growing as a species. Typically during the Spring, strong colonies of bees will split. The Queen will leave with half the bees, leaving the others to make a new queen. While scout-bees look for a new home, the other bees form a cluster around the queen (photo on right). If you find a swarm, I will be happy to pick them up and give them a new home! |
